‘$54-Million Pants’ Help Couple Raise Money

A pair of pants involved in a $54-million lawsuit appeared at a fund-raising event held by two nonprofit groups to help support the couple thrown into debt by the lawsuit, reports the Associated Press.
A Washington judge sued Jin Nam Chung and Soo Chung, the owners of Custom Cleaners, for $54-million after they lost a favorite pair of pants of the judge’s that he had brought in to be dry cleaned. The clothing in question was later found, and was on display at an event to aid the couple, who are now $100,000 in debt after successfully defending themselves in the lawsuit.
The party, thrown by the American Tort Reform Association and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform, raised more than $64,000 to help pay the Chungs’ legal costs. More money is still being pledged, the groups said.
