9/11 Anniversary Brings National Day of Volunteering

More than 200 groups are collaborating to make September 11 a day of service, largely because of a push by the group MyGoodDeed, notes The Washington Post

Jay Winuk and David Paine, founders of the group, spearheaded the campaign to establish today as a National Day of Service.

Other service efforts under way:

The Associated Press reports on the National September 11 Memorial & Museum’s launch of a Web site Thursday collecting video filmed by witnesses to the World Trade Center bombing.

And the nonprofit Families of Freedom Scholarship fund announced Wednesday that it will distribute $8.4-million in education aid for the new academic year to family members of those killed in the 9/11 attacks, according to the AP.
