Accounting Software Reviewed in New Guide

Charities that want to purchase accounting software can take advantage of a new guide that evaluates 26 different accounting programs used by non-profit groups.
The Nonprofit Financial Center, a Chicago group that works to promote sound financial practices among charities, has published the guide to help charity officials compare accounting software on dozens of features, costs, and hardware requirements. The guide also states whether the software can compile reports that meet standards for charities set by the Financial Accounting Standards Board and whether the programs have been written in ways to avoid problems caused by the year 2000 and beyond.
The guide was compiled by accountants who volunteered their time and by staff members at the center. Divided into two sections, it rates seven accounting programs designed specifically for churches and religious organizations, as well as 19 accounting programs for all other types of charitable organizations.
