Aid Workers Freed in Somalia

Two aid workers with the international charity CARE were freed by their kidnappers after a week in captivity in Somalia, reports Reuters news service.

The two men, a Briton and a Kenyan, were kidnapped on May 9 and were in good health after being delivered to local elders this week, Reuters reports. The leader of the kidnappers, who identified himself only as Mohamed, told Reuters that the aid workers would be held until problems were resolved with local authorities in the northern Puntland region.

Puntland has been more peaceful than other Somali areas in recent years, Reuters reports.
