The rate of giving by British sellers on the online auction Web site eBay has tripled in the past year, reports Third Sector Online.
Monthly donations by sellers soared from about $65,000 a month to nearly $196,000 in the 12 months ending last April, according to MissionFish, a partner of eBay’s that seeks to increase fund raising through the site.
Over all, British giving on eBay in the first four months of 2009 totaled nearly $3.7-million, up from $2.2-million in the same period last year. Those figures include donations from buyers as well as sellers, and proceeds from sales by charities.
