Billion-Dollar Campaigns Challenge Fund Raisers

July 12, 2007 | Read Time: 1 minute

As more colleges have completed or are trying to complete billion-dollar fund-raising campaigns, leaders in the arena of big-gift fund raising shared their tips and encouragement at the annual meeting of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, which was held in Chicago this week, reports The Chronicle of Higher Education.

More than a dozen pledges of $100-million or more have been made this year to higher education, the paper reports. Challenges for institutions engaged in campaigns to raise $1-billion or more include keeping donors engaged after a mega-gift is made and being attuned to how an organization’s priorities may change during a long-term campaign.

A table accompanying the story shows the status of more than 60 campaigns of $1-billion or more.
