Bits: New Web Sites for Points of Light Foundation and Heifer Project

August 13, 1998 | Read Time: 1 minute

* The Points of Light Foundation has started a new Web site and on-line discussion group for managers of volunteers who work for government agencies. The Web site lists forthcoming conferences related to government volunteer programs, as well as papers by non-profit managers, among other things. For more information, and to sign up for the discussion group, go to http://www.cybervpm.com/gov-vpm

* Heifer Project International, a charity that provides animals and agricultural training to families around the world, now has a Web site (http://www.heifer.org). It features “The Most Important Gift Catalog in the World.” For $250, on-line donors can help the charity purchase a water buffalo that will make plowing easier for an impoverished family in Thailand. A $30 gift will pay for bees so that women in the southern Appalachian mountains can start honey businesses.
