Bloomberg, Intel’s Co-Founder Among 2009 Carnegie Medal Winners

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Gordon Moore, co-founder of technology giant Intel, next week will receive the 2009 Carnegie Medals of Philanthropy, the New York Sun reports.
Mr. Bloomberg, a billionaire media mogul before his election, donated $235-million in 2008. Mr. Moore and his wife, Betty, fund environmental and science programs through their foundation.
Also receiving the prize, handed out every other year by the Carnegie-affiliated institutions, were former Citigroup head Sanford Weill and his wife, Joan, who are major New York arts backers, and the Koc family, which established the first private philanthropic foundation in Turkey.
