Nuevos Senderos: Reflections on Hispanics and Philanthropy

This book provides insight into the attitudes that shape the altruism of Hispanics and urges further study of Hispanic involvement in non-profit organizations.
The editors and contributors hope to chart the nuevos senderos — “new paths” — that lie before Latinos, who are expected to become the nation’s largest minority group by 2005.
Topics include the increasing numbers of charities established by or for the benefit of Latinos and the dynamics of community funds set up by Latinos — who tend to orient their giving toward family and friends, say the editors.
Ms. Campoamor is president of Hispanics in Philanthropy, in San Francisco, Mr. Diaz is senior fellow at the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, in Minneapolis, and Mr. Ramos is principal of Mauer Kunst Consulting, in Berkeley, Cal.
