British Broadcasters Refuse to Air Gaza Charity Appeal

January 26, 2009

Despite criticism, two major British broadcasters refused to air a charity appeal for the victims of Israel’s offensive in Gaza, reports Reuters.

The BBC and Sky cited the need to be objective in their decision not to air the appeal from the Disasters Emergency Committee, a coalition of 13 major British charities. A spokeswoman for the committee said the money raised would be directed to Palestinian rather than Israeli victims of the conflict.
