British Military Leaders Blast Far-Right Party’s Ties to Veterans Groups
October 22, 2009
Several former senior British military leaders are calling on the U.K. Charity Commission to crack down on what they characterize as dubious veterans’ charities associated with the far-right British National Party, Charity Finance reports.
A letter to the regulatory body signed by Gens. Mike Jackson and Richard Dannatt, both of whom served as heads of the British army, and two other ex-top defense officials claims that British National Party organizations are “masquerading” as support agencies for former soldiers. Officials for the charity commission said they were reviewing the report.
