Charities and Politics: Listen to a Debate on Key Issues in the Nonprofit World

Two articles about charities and politics that were recently published in The Chronicle’s opinion section were debated in a live event in Washington last week.
Debating the issues were:
Robert Egger, founder of D.C. Central Kitchen and author of Charities Must Challenge Politicians, an argument for dropping the ban on nonprofit involvement in partisan politics. Pablo Eisenberg, a senior fellow at Georgetown University and author of Charities Should Remain Nonpolitical, a defense of the traditional separation of charities and partisan campaigns.
The debate was moderated by Ian Wilhelm, a senior writer at The Chronicle.
The event was organized and sponsored by the Hudson Institute’s Bradley Center for Philanthropy and Civic Renewal in Washington.
