Clinton Plans Global Philanthropy Meeting in China

Nonprofit, business, and government leaders are set to meet this week in New York for the third annual Clinton Global Initiative to be held in New York this week, and now Mr. Clinton plans to hold another such meeting in Asia, reports The Financial Times.

In an interview, Mr. Clinton said that he would like to move the Global Initiative to China in the future, to avoid the appearance of American domination, which he said he feared could lead to a backlash against American charity work.

He also cited creating clean-energy industries as a possible way to combat poverty, discussed the need for a U.S. market to trade carbon-dioxide emissions, and talked about a new Web site he will unveil on Wednesday, designed to be “a cross between Facebook and eBay but for philanthropy.”
