Foundations should get involved in helping shape spending decisions made under the new federal stimulus law, a White House aide told participants at the annual meeting of the Council on Foundations.
Plus, in other sessions at the meeting:
- A Congressman urged charities to take more “daring” actions to fix the nation’s economic problems.
- The new Secretary of Health and Human Services urged foundations to take an active role in promoting public health.
- Local and regional foundations were encouraged to take more active steps in dealing with home-foreclosure troubles.
- Foundation investment experts offered advice and discussed steps they are taking to deal with financial turbulence.
