Courting Female Donors Is a Challenge for Many Colleges

Despite the surge in college attendance by women and the growing wealth of female graduates, few universities have figured out how best to persuade women to be big donors, reports The Chronicle of Higher Education.
Some institutions, however, are experimenting with new approaches. At Iowa State University, its Women & Philanthropy Committee sponsors regional programs to encourage alumnae to step up their giving.
Since the committee began its programs, the number of female donors has grown by 37 percent and the university has increased the amount raised from women by 138 percent.
For a look at how nonprofit groups of all kinds are attracting female donors, read Power of the Purse, in The Chronicle of Philanthropy.
