Detroit Symphony Receives $1-Million Grant

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra has received $1-million from the Ford Foundation for fund raising and marketing programs, according to the Detroit Free Press.
One reason the foundation had confidence in the institution was the success of the orchestra’s new music director and conductor, Leonard Slatkin, said the orchestra’s president, Anne Parsons.
“They see us going in the right direction, and they think that the Slatkin appointment was pivotal to the ongoing success of the orchestra,” she said.
