Donations Reported by 287 United Ways for 2007

United Ways nationwide raised $4.2-billion in their 2007 campaign season, a 2.4-percent increase in contributions over the previous year. That was not enough to keep pace with inflation, however, which was 4.1 percent last year.

Fifty-eight percent of the nation’s 1,285 local United Ways reported increased donations in their most recently completed campaigns, compared with 60 percent last year. Another 10 percent reported that donations were flat last year.

Following are fund-raising totals for 287 United Ways, provided by United Way of America.

The figures show money raised from multiple sources, including donations raised through on-the-job drives, foundation grants, corporate sponsorships, major-gift solicitations, and bequests and other planned gifts, as well as giving campaigns for government employees that are run by United Way. The totals do not include government grants.
