Foundation Commits $22-Million to Fight Nursing Shortage

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is devoting $22-million over the next five years to increase the nursing-faculty ranks throughout New Jersey, with the majority of money going to pay for nurses to earn master’s or doctoral degrees in nursing education, reports The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Colleges around the country say the lack of nursing educators is a key reason why nearly 50,000 qualified nursing-program applicants were denied entry to programs last year, the newspaper reports.
