Fueled by Earthquake Relief, Chinese Companies Step Up Giving

The New York Times reports on the skyrocketing growth of corporate philanthropy in China.

Giving by Chinese businesses tripled last year, to $15.7-billion, according to a recent report by the NGO Research Center at Beijing’s Tsinghua University. The outpouring was driven by relief efforts after the May 2008 Sichuan earthquake, which accounted for about 70 percent of corporate donations.
