Gates Foundation Finance Chief Plans to Step Down
October 13, 2009
Alexander Friedman, chief financial officer at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, has announced that he will leave the post next year for a likely return to the business world, The Seattle Times reports.
A former investment banker, Mr. Friedman joined the world’s largest philanthropy in March 2007 and steered its finances during the period of rapid growth that followed the investor Warren Buffett’s $30-billion donation and the financial crisis that shaved about a fifth of the foundation’s endowment.
