Gates Foundation Promises $150-Million More to Anti-Polio Efforts

July 9, 2008

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced that it plans to spend an additional $150-million this year on the battle to eradicate polio, the organization reports.

The new gift was made in recognition of progress made by the Group of Eight countries, which met this week in Japan, in supporting development and health issues facing the world at large, the foundation said.

The Gates foundation already had committed $250-million to polio-eradication programs.
