Gates to Give Up to $60-Million to Help the Homeless

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will give up to $60-million over the next decade to a Washington state partnership of governments, businesses, and nonprofit organizations to help the state’s growing homeless population, The Seattle Times reports.

The Washington Families Fund has set a goal of reducing the number of homeless families in the state by half within 10 years. The fund, which has raised $8.3-million from corporations, foundations, and charities since its creation by the state legislature in 2004, has yet to announce any other commitments to the new campaign.
