Goldman Sachs Mulls Major Donations to Mute Bonus Backlash

Top officials at investment bank Goldman Sachs are considering giving hundreds of millions of dollars to charity to blunt criticism when the firm awards bonuses this year, The Business Insider reports, citing current and former Goldman executives who back the plan.
The financial house, which has received billions of dollars in taxpayer support since the financial crisis hit, is expected to pay out about $22-billion in compensation this year, more than twice what it paid last year, when its workforce was 12 percent bigger.
