Grant Writing for Educators: Practical Strategies for Teachers, Administrators, and Staff, by Beverly A. Browning, offers advice on how to approach the grant-seeking process. Ms. Browning, a consultant and author, describes how school personnel can identify projects that need support and search out foundations and corporations that may want to get involved. She then helps people hone their grant-writing skills by providing an introduction to grant-related lingo, a rubric for composing letters of inquiry, and a description of what makes a winning grant proposal. The book’s final chapters describe how people can pursue state and federal government grants. Appendixes include an alphabetical list of grant-writing tips (“N,” for instance, is “Never, ever share a copy of your draft of a final grant request with your competition”), as well as other resources and suggested reading for the grant seeker.
