Head of 9/11 Charity Asked to Resign

September 28, 2007 | Read Time: 1 minute

Tania Head was asked to resign this week as president of the nonprofit organization World Trade Center Survivors’ Network, after questions were raised about whether she really was in the towers that were attacked by terrorists in 2001, reports The New York Times.

Ms. Head’s story of surviving the attacks — she said she was on one of the floors where a plane ripped through the building — appeared on the Web site of the charity and she made many speaking appearances to tell about the episode. Recent investigations have unearthed serious discrepancies in the veracity of her story, however, says The Times.

While Ms. Head recently declined to discuss details on the accuracy of her survival tale, she told the newspaper on Tuesday, “I have done nothing illegal.”
