In the Arts: Museum in California Loses City Aid; University Museum Director Accused of Stealing

The City Council in Long Beach, Calif., has slashed its support to the Long Beach Museum of Art to $169,000, down from $569,000 the previous year, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Plus: A former director of Long Island University’s Hillwood Museum, who was fired last year, has been accused of stealing Egyptian artifacts from the museum’s collection and selling the antiquities through Christie’s auction house, says the New York Post.
