International Red Cross Braces for Cutbacks Due to Recession

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies may reduce its staff size and project load in anticipation of lower aid contributions from donors hit hard by the economic downturn, reports The Financial Times.

The organization issued an appeal Tuesday requesting $220-million for the coming year and warned of increased social unrest in poor countries suffering from high food prices and job losses.
