IRS Names Acting Commissioner

The Internal Revenue Service has named Linda Stiff acting commissioner when Kevin M. Brown leaves for the American Red Cross in September, the tax agency reports.
Mr. Brown announced last week his plans to become chief operating officer of the Red Cross. Ms. Stiff has been working as the deputy commissioner for operations support, and Richard Spires, chief information officer, will step into that role.
The IRS did not say when it will name a permanent commissioner.
