Looming Postal Strike Could Hit British Holiday Appeals

A threatened strike by workers for Britain’s Royal Mail could have a significant impact on large charities’ fall and Christmas-season fund-raising campaigns, which rely heavily on direct mail, the Telegraph and Third Sector Online report.

Louise Richards, policy director for the Institute of Fundraising, said the job action would deal a double blow to charities that have already seen donations drop during the recession.

Organizations like Save the Children, Christian Aid, and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said they were looking at alternative postal providers to mitigate the impact of the strike.
