NAACP Chairman Bond Will Not Seek New Term

Civil rights activist Julian Bond announced yesterday that he will not to seek another term as chairman of the NAACP’s national board, declaring that the time is right to “let a new generation of leaders” take over the organization, reports The Baltimore Sun.
Mr. Bond, 68, has served as chairman since 1998 and will complete his current one-year term, which expires in February, after which he plans to remain on the board.
