New Group Seeks to Connect Green Businesses

A new nonprofit group called the Green Chamber is bringing together the growing number of environmentally friendly small businesses, Fortune Small Business reports.

The group’s founders, Jon Anderson, founder of the Urban Land Preservation Fund of America, in Rockville, Md., and Willi Paul, a sustainable-business consultant, in Berkeley, Calif., are both members of Co-Op America, a Washington organization for socially minded business owners and consumers.

They hope to offer a way for companies to connect with one another, list requests for business proposals, share market research, and give advice to start-up companies.

Mr. Anderson and Mr. Paul say they want the Green Chamber to take on an advocacy role, supporting issues such as sustainable development and tax breaks for companies that protect the environment.

So far, the group has attracted about 200 members, who have paid dues of up to $350 to join, depending on the number of employees, according to its founders.
