New Orleans Homeowners Affected by Hurricanes to Get Assistance
August 18, 2009
The City of New Orleans is in the final stages of a deal with the nonprofit Neighborhood Housing Services to operate a home-repair program that provides almost $20-million to homeowners affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, reports The Times-Picayune.
The money comes from long-term recovery grants, federal dollars that the state passed on to parishes affected by the hurricanes. The program is scheduled to start in October.
