New Sites Link Giving to Everyday Online Activities
October 9, 2009
A new wave of Web applications pairs charity with everyday online activities,” writes Betsy Brill, a columnist on investing issues at Forbes magazine.
Unlike Causes and TwitCause, the highly publicized donation tools associated with social-networks Facebook and Twitter, such “social enterprise” ventures “allow us to give while saving time — and even money — as we multitask our way through our daily lives,” Ms. Brill writes.
She cites the coupon-clipping site CommonKindness, search engine GoodSearch, and dating service GiveandDate, among other sites, which devote a share of subscription fees or ad revenue to charity.
