June 24, 2009
In a nod to the recession’s lingering impact, this year’s Clinton Global Initiative summit will focus on helping companies find ways to profit from taking on social, environmental, and other problems, reports Reuters.
The annual September gathering, sponsored by former President Bill Clinton’s philanthropy, attracts a high-powered pool of politicians, corporate leaders, celebrities, and humanitarian activists. Since its 2005 inception, the summit has attracted some 1,400 pledges valued at $46-billion.
