SeaChange Capital Partners is helping charities raise tens of millions of dollars for their expansion by borrowing techniques used on Wall Street, reports The New York Times.
The company was founded by two former Goldman Sachs partners, Charles T. Harris III and Robert K. Steel. It assists organizations that focus on children’s education and development but has plans eventually to aid other types of organizations. Goldman Sachs has given $5-million to support SeaChange.
The organization has helped two groups, College Summit and Teach for America, raise substantial money they can use to expand the reach of their organizations, rather than for specific programs.
