Obituary: William Randolph Adams, 64, former head of St. Louis Symphony

William Randolph Adams, executive director of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra from 2001 to 2007, died January 14 from pancreatic cancer, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He was 64.
Mr. Adams, whose background was in banking and management consulting as opposed to music, led a major financial overhaul of the orchestra during a period when it was close to bankruptcy, increasing the organization’s endowment from $18-million to $125-million.
