September 11: The Philanthropic Response is the final component of the Foundation Center’s three-year effort to assess the philanthropic world’s response to the September, 11, 2001, attacks. The volume presents an overview of the $1.1-billion in grant money provided by 1,339 foundations and corporations, including about $8-million to support long-term projects and needs. It also includes a guide to grant makers, an analysis of lessons learned, a timeline, and a bibliography.
