Packard Foundation Offers $100-Million to Expand Calif. Children’s Hospital

The David and Lucile Packard Foundation has pledged $50-million to the Stanford University children’s hospital that bears Ms. Packard’s name and has offered up to $50-million more in matching gifts, Bloomberg. and the San Francisco Chronicle report.
The philanthropy, founded by the late Hewlett-Packard co-founder David Packard, has previously given $140-million to the Palo Alto, Calif., facility, which opened in 1991, including $40-million for its construction.
The new funds will add 104 beds to the 312-bed hospital and support continuing education for pediatric specialists and research into childhood diseases.
