Princeton U. to Return Artifacts to Italy

October 29, 2007

Princeton University will return eight disputed artifacts to the government of Italy but will keep seven other objects, reports The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Italian officials said that some works of art had been illegally sold or given to the university. The agreement did not specifically assign any wrongdoing on Princeton’s part.

In addition to settling ownership, the agreement will allow the university to borrow and display artifacts never before seen outside Italy.
