Rising Prices Pinch U.N. Hunger Program

Rising prices for food have strained the budget of the United Nations’ World Food Program, and the agency warned that unless governments increase aid it will no longer be able to feed as many people as in the past, reports The Financial Times.
The World Food Program has helped feed 90 million people in each of the past five years on a budget of $600-million. However, the rising cost of grain has meant that some commodities now cost at least 50 percent more, the organization said.
