Rockefeller Appoints Vice President for Research and Evaluation

The Rockefeller Foundation, in New York, has appointed David Jhirad to be vice president for research and evaluation, a new position, according to a press release on the fund’s Web site.
Dr. Jhirad is vice president of science and research at the World Resources Institute, in Washington, and previously served as deputy assistant secretary of energy for international energy policy, trade, and investment, and senior adviser to the secretary of energy, under President Clinton.
Dr. Jhirad tells The Wall Street Journal that he hopes to build partnerships with businesses, which he says view such collaborations as “an opportunity for innovation, to engage the poor in enterprise, in ways that will change their lives.”
