Rudderless Foreign-Aid Agency Worries International Groups

While President Obama has pledged to retool U.S. foreign-aid policy and increase spending, the lack of a director at the U.S. Agency for International Development seven months into his administration is prompting concerns about the agency’s future, The Washington Post reports.
Aid groups and experts are concerned the autonomous USAID, which has lost 40 percent of its full-time staff in the past two decades, will be subsumed into the State Department, threatening long-term international development goals.
