Rural Traveling-Clinic Charity Goes Urban

The Los Angeles Times reports on the first urban foray by the Remote Area Medical Foundation, a nonprofit group that offers free medical services through its traveling clinic.
Thousands of Los Angelenos are seeking treatment at the group’s eight-day health camp, which opened yesterday at the Forum sports arena. The organization, in Knoxville, Tenn., typically mounts its mobile clinics in rural parts of the United States, Mexico, and South America, treating everything from serious chronic conditions to dental and vision problems.
