Save the Children U.S.
Janti Soeripto, deputy chief executive officer of Save the Children International, will become president and chief operating officer of the humanitarian-aid charity’s American arm on June 3. She will report directly to its CEO, Carolyn Miles.
Marshall Project
Susan Chira has been named editor in chief of this nonprofit journalism group, which focuses on criminal-justice issues. She is a veteran news editor who has worked at the New York Times for almost 40 years, most recently as a senior correspondent and editor covering gender issues. Chira succeeds Bill Keller, who has been at the Marshall Project since it was founded in 2014 and now plans to teach at Princeton University and Sing Sing Correctional Facility.
More New CEOs
Denelle Dixon, chief operating officer at Mozilla, has joined the Stellar Development Foundation as CEO. She succeeds Jed McCaleb, co-founder of this nonprofit, which promotes the cryptocurrency Lumens; he will remain with the organization as chief architect.
Marjie French, vice president for external relations and chief development officer at the University of Texas at San Antonio, has been appointed CEO of the San Antonio Area Foundation.
Reanetta Hunt has been hired as chief development officer of the Baptist Health system and CEO of the Baptist Health Foundation, in Little Rock, Ark. Most recently she was CEO of the Chicago State Foundation and interim vice president for advancement at Chicago State University.
Susan Smith Richardson, editorial director for newsroom practice change at Solutions Journalism Network, has been named CEO of the Center for Public Integrity.
Kristine Stratton will become president and CEO of the National Recreation and Park Association on June 5. She currently serves as senior vice president of operations at Earthjustice.
Samuel Wallis, chief program officer at Yonkers Partners in Education, has been promoted to executive director, effective July 1. He succeeds Wendy Nadel, who is departing after 12 years.
Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights
The civil-rights organization and its sister group, the Leadership Conference Education Fund, announced two new hires.
Ron Goines has become director of major gifts and corporate relations. Previously he was senior director of individual giving at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta.
Rafael Medina, senior media coordinator at the Center for American Progress, will now serve as communications manager at the Leadership Conference.
Departures
Janet Mintzer, president and CEO of Pearl S. Buck International since 2001, intends to retire on December 31.
Karen Ortiz, vice president for early-grade success initiatives at the Helios Education Foundation since 2007, plans to depart in May to move to Spain.
Rebecca Rimel, CEO of Pew Charitable Trusts since 1994, will step down once a successor is named. She joined Pew in 1983 as its health program manager.
Lee Roper-Batker, president and CEO of the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota since 2001, will retire next winter. Her last day will be January 3, 2020.
Legacies
Darcy Oman, who worked at the Community Foundation for a Greater Richmond for 30 years, died on March 29. She was hired as the foundation’s first full-time staff member in 1985 and retired as president and CEO in 2015.
