Creating a Women’s Giving Circle: A Handbook, by Sondra Shaw-Hardy, is designed to help community-based organizations and institutions create groups of women who “pool their charitable gifts to fund projects that improve the quality of life in their communities.” Giving circles, Ms. Shaw-Hardy explains, have become increasingly popular among women as they redefine women’s traditional service roles and recognize that women have the ability to contribute to society financially. This workbook contains chapters on starting a giving circle, recruiting members, and operating the circle once it’s established, as well as worksheets, sample letters of invitation, and sample pledge cards that will help any women’s group develop a giving circle and advance its philanthropic efforts.
