Terrorist Group Suspected of Establishing Fake Charities
July 26, 2007
A Sri Lankan terrorist group allegedly uses a network of fake charities to raise money for its activities, reports Associated Press.
According to the British intelligence journal Jane’s Intelligence Review, the Tamil Tigers raise up to $300-million from Tamil expatriates through these fraudulent charities.
The group has waged a civil war for the past two decades demanding a separate ethnic Tamil state. About 70,000 people have been killed.
