University Plans to Name Building for Letterman

Ball State University, in Muncie, Ind., will dedicate its new $21-million communication and media building to 1970 alumnus David Letterman, host of CBS’s Late Show with David Letterman, reports The Indianapolis Star.
Mr. Letterman accepted the offer to name the building in his honor after long discussions with the university — and a little prodding by his mother, the paper reports. The former telecommunications student has given about $20,000 a year since 1985 for scholarships to the school and makes a habit of mentioning the institution regularly on his show.
“I am proud to have been a student at Ball State, and I’m deeply honored to have this recognition for me and my family,” Mr. Letterman said in a statement released by the university.
