September 2, 2009
The head of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art outlined plans Tuesday to pay for a new cinema program to replace its canceled weekend film series, reports the Los Angeles Times.
After a three-hour meeting with a coalition of film buffs and industry professionals that has lobbied to save the 40-year-old weekend series, which is due to shut down next month, the museum’s director, Michael Govan, said the institution will start an expanded movie program if it can raise $5-million to $10-million in the next year.
