A Statement of Commitment to the Georgia Institute of Technology
February 27, 2015 | Read Time: 1 minute
At the Georgia Institute of Technology, the fundraising office often provides sample documents with specific language for a bequest arrangement or a living trust. But that’s just a starting place.
A local law firm then helps draft agreements for donors and their financial advisers to review. Donors may also use their own lawyers to draft the final document.
Donors are asked to provide a statement of commitment once they’ve created an estate gift, says Peter J. Ticconi, Georgia Tech’s senior director of gift planning. Donors receive this template (in person or electronically) along with the sample estate gift language, with the request that they use this form to notify the institution when the arrangement has been made.
More sample documents from Georgia Tech are available online.
