‘Your Eager Assistance Will Not Protect You’

To the Editor:

In addition to your list of large foundations that could be targeted by the Trump administration’s DEI crackdown, I wonder if you’ve also created lists of foundations funding trans youth programs, or those providing grants to nonprofits that have ever said anything vaguely pro-Palestinian. Or maybe you’re considering publishing a list of foundations that support Ukraine, domestic civil rights, or freedom of the press.

The Trump administration will eventually target them, too. Please know that helping an autocratic administration go after perceived enemies does not make you an ally. Your eager assistance will not protect you when they decide to go after you.
